A Nan Vernon FAQ

If you have any other Nan-related questions that need answering, email me.

1. Who is Nan Vernon?

A very talented singer, songwriter and guitarist. She has only released one album so far - Manta Ray in 1994 (1995 in the US) - but the quality of the songs was one most acts would be glad to attain with a greatest hits collection.

Her voice and sound has been compared to those of Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan and Margot Smith, but I think she is in a class of her own.

Here is a biography of Nan.

2. Has she done anything since Manta Ray?

She has contributed a track to each of two compilations on Del-Fi Records. For Shots in the Dark: Del-Fi Does Mancini she performed Moon River, and for Delphonic Sounds Today she covered the Bobby Fuller Four's A New Shade of Blue. Recently she has contributed a track to a compilation titled Re-enter the Dragon
more details here.

3. What is she doing now?

Recording a new album and playing the occasional gig in L.A.

4. In what language is Johnny's Birthday?

German. Here is a translation of the lyrics:

Johnny
When it's your birthday
I will be with you
All night long
Johnny
I dream so much about you
Come to me
In the afternoon
At half past three

5. In what language is the reprise of Moon River?

Japanese.
